McHenry Sportsman’s Club Newsletter (August 2008)
THE FLOOD - for the second time in 9 months the Chain-O'-Lakes appeared in the trap line.
The water reached the 21.5 yard line on trap 3 this year and flooded traps 2, 3, 4 and 5.
All of the traps are back in operation.
WEDNESDAYS - the Club is now open on Wednesdays from 11AM to 5PM.
It is somewhat do-it-yourself since we do not always have trap staff to open and close traps, and load.
We plan to make this change permanent and year round.
We are averaging 50-60 rounds each Wednesday so there is a lot of interest.
COMING EVENTS - The Club Picnic is scheduled for August 24th.
The format will be pretty much the same as last year.
Other events include:
- September 7th - ATA Registered Shoot
- November 8th and 9th - Turkey Shoot
CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP - The Annual Club Championship was held on June 1st.
Charlie Bickle is the new Club Champion with 98/100.
Greg Rauhut took the High Over All Buckle, Matt Woods the Singles Buckle, Mick Schacht the Doubles Buckle and Roger Schad the Wobble Buckle.
John Rauhut won the Pitzin Buckle with 50/50.
Tom Kraus took Long Yardage and Brad Lewis took Short Yardage.
High Vet was Don Schultz, High Lady Noell Mach, and High Junior Katy Rauhut.
FEES - members pay $4.50 for a round.
Ticket books are still 10 tickets for $40.00.
10 round youth cards are $27.
Shells are currently $5.50 per box.
We have all gauges.
PROJECTS PLANNED - As usual we have a number of projects and can use your help.
Some of the major projects are:
- Rebuilding the porch is a high priority. It almost fell down earlier in the year.
- Replacing the trap house doors is needed.
- The club house needs to be painted.
We can always use help mowing, trimming and maintaining the grounds.
FINANCES - the Club is in good financial health at this time.
We are actively looking for a used Pat-Trap to replace the Remington in Trap 1.
